Joseph: Oh yeah, Colorado! That was so fun.
Maddie: Mommy, ‘member? When we went to the pool? In Colosota? You ‘member?
Joseph: Yah, then after, we went to Minnerado, you remember that?

Me: Joseph, do you want a grilled cheese?
J: No. I’m not going to eat cheese anymore. I don’t want to clog up my arteries.
Me: Do you know where your arteries are?
J: (shrugs) … Here? (Points to left hip.)

Me, to Noah: So, what kind of scotch do you want?
Joseph: Get BUTTERscotch!!
Shopping
Joseph and I were in a shop in Leesburg. He spots a nativity scene. “Mom, we should get this for grandma! She likes God.”
Mmmm, Soup
J: Mom, this soup smells like a hotel!
Me: Really?
J: Yeah!
Me: Wait, do you like how a hotel smells?
J: Yes!! Ahhhh!!
Me: Oh, so that’s a compliment?
J: Yes, it’s a compliment. Thanks for making such yummy, good-smelling soup!

J: There is a girl in my class who is always crying.
Me: What’s her name?
J: I don’t know, but she cries.
Me: Maybe she needs a friend.
J: Nah, I think she misses her mom.
Me: Well, you could still be nice to her and be her friend.
J: I don’t have any girl friends. I don’t have the courage. Boys like Nick and Jordan they’re pretty funny. And, they have courage.
Me: How about Joseph S.?
J: Oh yeah Joseph S. Hey! That’s me. No, I definitely don’t have courage for a girl friend. Joseph H., now, he does.
